Claustraphobic...

Not sure how or why, but here was tonight's dinner conversation...

Oldest: ...I can't believe eBay sold a pair of Brittany's underwear...
Me: What the ?!?!?
Mom: I know...isn't that just disgusting?
Youngest: Yeah, but you couldn't have bought them Mom...they'd have made you claustraphobic...

Yeah, I know. Sometimes you just can't believe they'd survive.

Sickness count...

So, here's the month of Feb totals (some might have gotten the rant email from wife, but here's the details and diseases...all dates approxiamate)

Youngest - started us off Jan 31 with a sinus infection...followed by:
Oldest - flu like symptoms on Feb 3 and 4...followed by:
Middle - more flu like symptoms on Feb 7 with encore on Feb 11 followed by:
Oldest - Strep throat - Feb 14 and 15 followed by
Youngest - arrives home from visiting the relatives with the wife and siblings with (drum roll please...) CHICKEN POX. Now, I realize this has been said before in this blogosphere, but again, HE WAS IMMUNIZED!!!! Followed by:
DAD - Strep throat (only been about 15 years, thanks oldest!!!)

Needless to say, Mom wants to flee. Don't think they make enough Lysol disinfectant to please her. She also feels that it is uncomfortable to be in the same house with us which means all of this will be followed by:

Mom getting sick which will probably cause the rest of us to be killed...

Bawk, Bawk, Bawk...

CHICKEN POX HAVE ARRIVED (now I get it when someone says a pox on your house).

Yep, those inocculations did wonders. The family returned yesterday amid fun hail storms and what to our wondering eyes should appear but a little boy with 8 little blistering postules right here (and here and here and there...man, they're getting everywhere). I think the 8 hour car ride helped them grow.

What does he say about it? Yeah!!!! No school for two whole weeks... (later this week it should sink in that most of his friends won't want to play with him either... )

Home Alone...

My family left me (for the weekend). During this time, I planned on being rather boring. I have a few people I want to hang out with, but for the most part I'll be working. I have a few pet projects for work which I want to play with and I also want to work on the house a bit. However, as always, the best laid plans always get messed up.

I find it extremely amusing that so many people hear what my plans are and immediately think I'm crazy (even more so than normal). It has been ages since I've been able to just sit down and play with something just for fun. To have a whole weekend, it has been almost overwhelming - just where to begin? So, while I won't bore you all with details which will sound like a foreign language, suffice it to say that I did have a good time even with the delays trying to find things where it made more sense to use someone else's work than to build my own.

As for working on the house, due to the delays above, it didn't get as fars as I was hoping, but then things hardly ever go according to plan.

So, while I know people have been paying attention to the stories here, I'm wondering if people are more interested in getting the stories delivered. I've been playing with somethings which will pull the content and deliver to another web page (more for me since I read about 2 dozen sites or more). I've also found a tool called Blogo which will allow you to pick up the stories on your cell phone (if it is web enabled). If you are more interested in getting the stories delivered to you directly upon update, let me know and I'll set that up too.

In the meantime, I'm getting back to my delayed projects (and the relaxation that can only come from working on them in front of the TV...). Ahh, it's good to be alone some times.

Dinner Conversation...

At dinner someone (methinks the middle child) says:

(blah blah blah) hot chickie babe... (aimed squarely at the wife)

To wit the youngest responds: No, no, no. Since she's a woman, she's a "hot chickie hen".

then he points at me and says: And he's a hot chickie rooster

Needless to say we all degenerated into laughter.

Guess who's pretty now...

Had to drop the wife's vehicle off for service today. On the way home, we stop at Starbucks for a coffee. I order a Venti Mocha, then clarify that I want a Mocha; Chocolate Mocha. Immediately my wife starts laughing, as does the Barista. So, I suck it up and tell them both the reason for the clarification is that the particular Starbucks I'm at have mistakenly given me White Mocha on more than one occassion. In the end, it availed me nothing as my wife politely pointed out:

Who's Pretty Now? You're sooo pretty...

I guess what goes around comes around, and really, when you get right down to it, I AM pretty... :)

Finally...

So, we finally had the oldest's b-day party. We did a murder mystery party (hence the delay). We've been worried about getting this setup properly for the last couple of weeks. Details like making sure we have enough people, will the kids like it, yadda, yadda, yadda. When it was all said and done, the kids had a great time. Our neighbor came over and died peacefully which was great fun. Then one of the other childrens parents also helped out and ended up being convicted (by the kids) for the crime. We'd been trying to tell him all night that crime doesn't pay. Honestly though, I don't think the oldest has thanked me like she has today EVER. So, I guess she had a good time and it was all well worth it.

By the way, Mom and I enjoyed it too...

SBS...

Ahhh, super bowl sunday. At least the wife's b-day didn't fall on it this year!!! (She had a good one BTW). Anyway, youngest daughter is sick, and both the wife and her are sleeping right now (catching up for last night). So...where to begin on this fine day...?

Oldest is becoming more independent. Not sure if she's gonna kill me, me her, or me myself before it's all done. Geez, she's a good kid and I love her to death, but man I don't know if I can handle all the present holds, let alone the future. As always, open to any words of wisdom (WOW). I may not listen, but will definitely comment!!! ;-)
